The Magic of Steam
He has captured the unique atmosphere of steam in regular service carrying
people and
their goods
through bustling city centres, up high mountain passes, across remote
deserts
and through tropical jungles, often in areas of outstanding natural beauty.
The results are considered by many to be the finest motion picture record
of steam trains available.
Award Winning
Cameraman
Nick is a freelance producer who started out in TV News, winning the coveted
UK News Cameraman Of The Year Award in 1970. He worked all over the world,
covering the
Vietnam War, the Middle East conflict and the collapse of Communism in
Europe. When history was in the making Nick was there. The experience
gained in these years is
reflected in his ability to capture the human element of the railway scene
and the most
effective camera shots of working locomotives in steam. His extensive
travels gave him
many chances to add to his personal collection of railway scenes. Nick's
presentations
at London's National Film Theatre attracted the producers of the BBC's
'Great Railway Journeys of The World' who employed him on their highly
rated programmes in Southern
Africa and Peru. He has spent the last decade perfecting his own unique
series,
NICK LERA'S WORLD STEAM CLASSICS, the culmination of a lifelong fascination
with steam railways combined with a high degree of professionalism in
TV production.
